Trump has aged badly...Back when DJT was on the cover of Playboy or cameo’d in small movie roles (e.g. “Home Alone”) or sensationalized his persona on Howard Stern, he was then the beau monde, the “cool guy.” A harmless deviant. Trump even ran criminal racketeering schemes through his casinos, while the Feds gave him a “pass” as he was to them then an insignificant, spoiled, misogynistic cad.
However, Trump has aged, badly.
Trump is aging: a narcissist is aging. What is expected? Psychologists who specialize in Narcissistic Personality Disorder predict Trump will intensify his brutality and abuse to dominate his rule over others.
Why? Trump’s narcissistic “cage” is getting smaller. After each attack, his “cage” shrinks and left are increasingly bitter, hateful followers shouting with unhinged, “us vs. them” nationalistic rhetoric.
Significant in this subject is that DJT is a fully formed narcissist with sociopathic direction. Since those glory days of DJT’s youth and middle-age, his sadism and maliciousness have grown. His fits of rage have intensified. (I feel as if I should be citing facts, but with so many known, I don’t need to cite. Trump’s disorder is as known as any household name). Everything we see in Trump – his sense of entitlement; his lack of conscience and empathy; his sadistic streak; his egocentrism; his grandiosity; his paranoia; his manipulative nature; aggression and his project of his own faults onto others – is increasing!
What to look for:
(1) The Covert is now the Overt
Perhaps Trump’s most dark, recent action is his pardoning of a known, serial offender of individual rights, Joe Arpaio. Aside from the issue of forsaking the rule of law (Trump’s pardon invaded the contempt powers of the court), the act of this pardon demonstrates Trump has reached another low in his narcissism, specifically acting with less and less hesitation for reprehensible behavior. In this case, while on one hand he plied a stance against racism, Trump on the other pardoned a government official with one of the gravest histories of racism. Thus, the “overt” replaces the “covert” in an aging malignant narcissist.
(2) More Toxicity
Trump’s “meanness” is showing more and more, as his “power” erodes through the destruction of trust. Unlike his youth, his age has depleted his “charm.” Now, more toxic than ever, jealous of others who are more youthful, strong and wealthy, we witness a mind in constant rivalry with a must-need-to-win mindset. His cruelty will only increase over time, as malignant narcissism or sociopathy is not treatable.
(3) More Lies
Trump has been a pathological liar all his life and while he has aged, his character hasn’t. Thus, he will become crasser, and more tyrannical as an obstinate old man.
(4) More Chaos
Trump manufactures disorder for others out of boredom, spends his time pitching temper tantrums while seeking attention. As he ages, he will boost his efforts to impose his will on others (did someone say Congress?!) by frightening them with his conspicuous displays of contempt and rage.
(5) More Fantastic Self-Praise
As Trump ages, expect him to re-glorify America’s past (e.g. Confederate statues), re-write history, and then turn around and mourn this fake past. MAGA, which Trump shares with his followers, is nothing but Trump’s haunting nostalgia of a past that never existed except in his twisted fantasies. Picture more to come as Trump will nurture his paranoia with fabricated conspiracies.
Is There Nothing to be Done?
How to stop a narcissist? Cut off his Narcissistic Supply. Cut off the drama. Create a deficit of applause. End the admiration. We must “fail” to appreciate his “greatness.” Let him curse this “cruel universe” that does not appreciate his magnificence. For a narcissist, shutting down his narcissistic supply is the opposite of euphoria; it is a dysphoria.
To slow him down, Trump’s enemies must end the approval, disturb his sleep, his eating, and create a depression or constant state of sadness, in which he finds no pleasure in anything. Let his mood swings grow even more, let his fits of rage surmount him. Let his poor, self-control fail. For a narcissist, cutting of the narcissistic supply slays the narcissist.
Cut off his supply of adoration, and Trump will grow even more wandering, obsessed and repetitive. Trump will attempt to escape his predicament and run away into his MAGA imaginary world, in which there are abundant Narcissistic supplies. In short, he will be pushed into paranoid self-delusions.
Evaporate the Supply; Evaporate the Narcissist!
So, let him become his own audience with a never ending supply of self-adoration. Doctors would diagnose this stage as a schizoid withdrawal in which the narcissist isolates himself in a kingdom of one. When Trump cuts down his staff, fires them, fails to promote or fill vacancies under his administration, uses “messengers” to have press talks, and more, he is showing his schizoid withdrawal. Since we see Trump turn on those nearest to him, we know how he reveals they are nothing but a means to his gratification. Trump is acquiring fewer people to run government for fear of his reprisal and psychological abuse. So, we must annul Trump by shutting down his Narcissistic Supply. Evaporate the supply, evaporate the narcissist.
Any Collateral Danger?
Psychologists predict at such a schizoid stage, Trump will demonstrate psychotic episodes, including “magical thinking.” Trump is like a child and will forever believe that whatever happens, he will prevail and will win. No matter what he does, he will always be excused. Thus, expect Trump to grow more unafraid of the consequences produced by his malignant narcissism. And, here is the most bizarre point: expect him to rely on divine protection. He will assert with all certainty that God is on his one side, the Nation is on his other, and Trump is in the middle.
However, it’s not over: we are in danger, for at this stage of magical thinking, Trump will attempt to destroy any forward gains, shredding what he has built in a mindless rage, distorting and sullying his path, all to prove he can build it up again. Trump’s unchecked paranoia will lead to horrible self-destruction in the “service of self-aggrandizement.” Like some psychotic Ouroboros, Trump will devour himself in order to rebirth himself.
Then the collateral damage from someone who occupies the post of POTUS (our damage) will be fraught with longstanding ruination.
No choice for us: we must impeach Trump now.

Rage in the Cage!
While Donald J. Trump doesn’t know, we know the various stages of a “caged” narcissist. A caged narcissist is one whose pool of adoring fans, admirers, and devotees (I never use the word “Loving” in such context) has run low.
In the first stage, the narcissist meets unbeatable resistance in his ego driven world. Reality is peeking into that cage and exposing the lies of the self-absorbed personality. In the exposing of such weakness, the narcissist produces a feverish effort to protect his ego, plugging up as many “leaks” in his psychosis as possible. As investigations tighten their nooses around Trump and Trump’s associates, the forever lionizing team of loyal sycophants Trump has assembled will try to appease the praise-junkie, attention-seeking addict that Trump is. Although Trump has never in his life faced such criticism, as POTUS he must stand and take it, as there’s nowhere to run or hide.
Yet as Trump dishes out his own criticism of others while praising his own efforts, his own “perfection,” even practical criticism doesn’t produce an introspective effect in Trump’s ego, but a “narcissistic rage." A rage in the cage.
Dr. Seltzer wrote this of Narcissistic Personality Disorder in 2011:
“Another way of putting this is that, exquisitely susceptible to criticism because it endangers their frail sense of internal validation, they take great pains to devalue or invalidate the person criticizing them. To achieve such dismissal of the threatening other, they'll do everything possible to negate their viewpoint. And this can include much more than blaming or indignantly challenging them. For narcissists, when their position has been exposed as false, arbitrary, or untenable, will suddenly become evasive, articulate half-truths, lie (actually, as much to themselves as others), flat-out contradict themselves (and to a degree that can leave the other person gaping!), and freely rewrite history (literally--and audaciously--making things up as they go along).”
We also know the second stage which is depression of his overinflated ego which will cause him to hide or to become less accessible. His tweets will repeat, his erratic world-changing decisions will become more unreasonable, as they will also become more intense. Nothing will dent his sense of self. However, he will think himself more lovable, benevolent, and reasonable – in short, more perfect.
The last or third stage, when Trump’s ego is drained to as low point of adulation, will turn Trump brutal and psychopathic in which Trump will act with no functional feelings. It is unlike narcissism as Trump will be 'freed' from any guidance function of emotions. Getting his way is paramount. It is here where Trump’s narcissism turns malignant and paranoid. Here is the real threat to us.
So, now what? Our false trust is that Trump will destroy himself somehow. No, he will destroy all around him, but never himself. Proven time again in the world of psychiatry, narcissists are not suicidal, but genocidal. We should never underestimate this real threat to us and the world.
Furthermore, it is a real threat to our government. Trump has deceitfully attacked so many sides that we cannot carry on as before. Trump has primed our view of government through a Populist’s lenses, sowing distrust at all levels. We are witnessing his rule of political Terrorism through his suggestions for peer/police violence, confusion, religious indoctrination and more. He is creating prisoners: both Republican and Democrat. At this, Trump cannot stop. He wins when we are fully submissive and fully enmeshed losing our sense of self (think, losing our Bill of Rights). The longer he is POTUS, the harder it will be to avoid his threat, as we condition ourselves each day to new lows and lowered expectations.
We cannot hope to change Trump, for his psychopathy is untreatable as it consciously denies truth and constantly defends itself as it seeks eventual control.
Trump HAS Narcissistic Personality Disorder along with Psychopathy. He lacks empathy; he’s obsessed with social status or grandiosity; he possesses superficial charm, and an inability to listen to, or show any regard for, others. We have just learned that twice per day Trump’s associates “feed” him positive review and images of him to appease the rage. Indeed, Trump is volatile, unreliable, angry, immature, and erratic, and he sees himself as the victim – nothing is his fault.
Jessika Endsley describes this end-stage as the “Collapsed Narcissist.” She states, “The collapsed Narcissist grows from being discontent to being depressed.” He cannot feel or understand what is real. Indeed, seeing others’ contentment or happiness can “send him into a blind rage.” You cannot explain “color to someone who is entirely colorblind.”
Trump’s “world of self-love” is slowly collapsing given he cannot escape the criticism protected under Free Speech and his role as POTUS. His projection of his own self-hated onto others is increasing rapidly. Our danger is that as this “world” collapses, Trump will grow delusional and paranoid. Endsley states, “Paranoia itself is a byproduct of self-absorbed thoughts.” We are dealing with a deluded POTUS whose sense of entitlement and self-hatred will destroy anything it touches. Trump will terrify and confuse everyone who is critical of him, even at the least level. He will use lies even if those lies contradict him.
Key to our survival is to impeach Trump, end this “relationship” with a Malignant Clinical Narcissist. Cut off the narcissist’s supply of praise. Lock the cage and throw away the key.
Like all successful narcissists, on his surface Trump appears confident, self-assured. See how he boasts! However, deep inside lurk fears of unworthiness. Better, see the type of boasts, such as “Look, I’m President now!” The content of the boast is his outer cocky-self attempting to convince his inner flawed-self of the truth of such bluster.
No one else is convinced by such hyperboles and over-blown statements.
Each early morning’s bragging tweet is nothing more than Trump’s lying attempt to convince Trump, himself, he’s solidly right. Nothing in that tweet is going to convince others that he’s right.
